Contradictions: Wet and Dry
For a long time we were praying for the rain, since our field of onions was not growing, and despite the forecasts of drought, our land received the rain necessary to make our thirsty onions grow.
But the time of the harvest came, and our onions, large and beautiful, were ready to be harvested, but now the rainy season was coming, and unfortunately for us, the onions had to be dried before being packed and sold. So our prayers made a tremendous turn: “Please Lord, don’t let it rain.” All of the Onions
Little by little we began to take out the onions from the field, but the job was slow and tedious because we had to harvest, clean, and pack each time since our carpentry/mechanics shop was in use, and could not be totally occupied. After several days of work, we had not even finished harvesting a quarter of the field.
Until we saw a terrible downpour approaching, the clouds were almost black, there was lightning, and with the wind blowing towards us, we knew we would not escape. We all left what we were doing, classes stopped, construction stopped, woodworking stopped, even Fawna came with her children to help. The kids ran with little wheelbarrows, everyone working as fast as we could, and all the while we were praying in our heads.
Splitting the Storm
We could see the curtain of rain more than a kilometer wide, and the center of the curtain was headed straight for us. A few minutes more and it would be on us, but we continued working and praying. All of a sudden, we could clearly see the storm split in front of us! It kept moving on both sides, and then–almost like an embrace–the storm came back together, just after passing our field. The strong winds refreshed us, and the dark clouds shaded us, but the rain did not come!
You Are More Valuable Than All the Onions in the World
We were weary, but very happy, and we all stopped to pray. We had witnessed a miracle–but we had no time to lose. The rains would arrive soon. So we decided to continue working until the end. In less than two hours, we had finished harvesting almost five tons of onions Proof that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever! And making a comparison like the Bible would, if God can care for a field of onions, won’t He take care of you, who are worth more than five tons of onions?
