am writing to you to let you know what a Blessing you have been to my family and I. Although, I was baptized into the 7th Day Adventist Church in 1978 and remained in the church for many years, teaching Sabbath school, becoming a Deacon and then an Elder, I stopped going to church several years ago and began living a total worldly life. I didn’t stop believing in the Advent message, but I lived as there was no God. I sunk deep into sin and shame, yes I would pray occasionally, go to church occasionally, but I had become thoroughly discouraged do to the condition of the church as I perceived it and because I became ill and could not preach or teach anymore. Several months ago, I don’t remember how, I came across a series of sermons by you on YouTube, “ Preparation for the end “. My heart was stirred within me, not like it has ever been before, I felt that Jesus was calling me home. I am a Viet Nam Era Veteran of the Marine Corps with a service connected disability diagnosed as Schizo Affective Disorder, a type of Schizophrenia, with major depression and anxiety disorders. I am rated as 100% disabled by the VA. I also have diabetes with uncontrolled blood sugars and reached a weight of 342 lbs.(I had totally given up health reform and ate whatever). I have also been on various and dangerous psychotropic drugs for many years, never feeling well. I spent my time doing nothing out of discouragement and despair. I watched T.V. and movies almost all the time, my wife would spend evenings with me watching T.V., things that Christians should not set before their eyes. My wife always held on to faith, but would often follow my lead.As a result of your ministry and the work that God is doing through you, by the Grace of Jesus Christ the Righteous, we are being restored. We began to pray and put away the T.V. and the movies(over $1000 worth) and the unholy music. We gradually began removing things from our diet and began walking and exercising. In all this Satan opposed us, but by God’s grace we have embraced faith as you have taught us and find now many victories. I weigh now 270 lbs. A loss of approximately 60 lbs. in the last two and one half months or so. I am off all medications, all of them, including insulin which I had been taking a lot of. My blood sugars are normal. I feel more energy and I am doing more things than I have down in many years. I have also been sharing literature with anyone I come in contact, the Desire of Ages, the Happiness Digest, and the Great Controversy, also I hand out book marks listing all the websites of unique truths of Adventism by Amazing facts. And what is more important the money that I once thought belong to me I now faithfully return to the Lord. Praise God!Dear Brother this is a miracle of God, Jesus has saved us, we rejoiced continually. We know the time is shorter than when we first believed, in fact the Midnight Cry is at hand (national Sunday law) and the virgins are to be awaken from slumber, and many with find that they have no oil. Because they have failed to lift up the Last Message of Mercy to the world, they will be found blood guilty. I fear for our people, because judgment begins with the house of God and we are not seeking to save the lost as a people, like myself we have for the most part turned to the world to satisfy our hearts and lead ourselves away from God.My heart aches over the many years that I wasted, my hope now is that the Lord will help us redeem the time we have left. In fact we are impressed with desire and inclination to devote ourselves to a ministry in Kenya. We have set out a fleece and are waiting for the Lord’s assurance that is his will for us. We don’t dare attempt anything at our age ( I am 63 and my wife is 65) unless we can be sure that it is his will, we are inclined to believe presently that it is. My wife and I live in a country home, that allowed us to refinance and pay off all our debts. It still has $75, 000 in equity. We have put it on the alter as instructed by Ellen White, in order to use the money to move to Kenya and help with the Kissi Kids Orphanage there. They are in dire need. We had the opportunity to have Stevenson Maranga and his wife (founders of the Kissi Kids Orphanage) in our home this past week. They are both Adventist and a wonderful humble people. As I gather a number of years back, they were confronted with three children who were living in front of their home between their parents graves without anything. They decided to take them in and care for them. As time went on and civil war broke out in Kenya and produce many orphans. They started taking more in to their single room mud hut, someone later built a second room to their mud hut. In a short time they had 57 children. They had to walk a kilometer to obtain water for cooking cleaning and washing. Some friends of ours became acquainted with them on Facebook in the past few years and have been donating to their cause. They have now relocated to a new property, have their own well, have a school, a boys and girls dormitory on four acres. They also have 115 children now. They were able to come to the United States in order to promote the orphanage. A friend of theirs was invited to some meetings in Atlanta Georgia, but were unable to obtain a Visa. The Marangas, decided to applied for a visa and by God’s grace were granted one. Their friend gave them their tickets and they came to the United States. Sadly, they were not well received and were, as I understand it, not treated well. They were never given the opportunity to speak about the orphanage. Our friends then sent them a ticket to come out here to Goldendale Washington where we live and stayed with us. Here they also got a cold welcome from our local churches. Few came to the presentation, none of the local churches attended even though it was well advertised and my wife had personally contacted all the churches. Even all of my wife’s friends failed to take notice. Our Adventist Pastor contacted everyone in our church personally the morning of the event (it was also in the announcements and on the church calendar) but only a few couples showed up. It broke our hearts. Later we found people at a couple of thrift stores who when we introduced to the Marangas gave clothing to them for free and said they would spread the news to friends that they thought would be supportive. Our friends who are feast keepers invited them to a place called Azure, a health food producer, for a Sabbath Celebration of the Feast of Trumpets. They were well received and allow to make a presentation. My wife over heard the couple that own the company, who are very well off, decide to support their orphanage.I know my God is able to provide for them. Stevenson told us that having the orphanage was nothing they ever had planned for, they believe that God handed it to them, so they have stepped out in faith to take responsibility knowing what George Muller did, trusting God to provide for His work . There is no church that supports them not even the Adventist church, local or otherwise. They have been supported by donations from outside their country. Each month they need $5000 to support them. They only have $1500 in recurring monthly donations presently. I do not know how they are surviving. They have some electricity from a generator that breaks down quite often. The need solar panels and a solar pump for the well. It is their hope to become self-sufficient. Right now the children are being taught how to perform their own worship services, they are given Bible studies and are learning to give them. The Marangas are teaching them to be missionaries, that is the sole purpose for the school. They work half a day and are taught school half a day.Although I believe that God supports them and will provide their every need, I feel compelled to ask you, Pastor David Gates , that you might consider taking them under your wing. I don’t know what this would involve. I do know that the Lord has supported you all these many years, and that He has caused you to be fruitful and flourish in the work He has given you. The Marangas don’t know that I am asking for your support, I prayed that such a door would open for them.Dear Brother David Gates, I do believe that because you have held up the banner of Christ, you have been instrumental in saving my wife and myself. For this I am truly grateful to you and Our wonderful Redeemer, Jesus Christ the Righteous. Certainly, you will have two more stars added to you crown.Thank you again dear brother, we pray for you always, may our God continue to bless you and keep you as the storm approaches and see you through to the end, that we may share in His glorious deliverance, and that many may be saved. You can find their website at http://kisiikids.com/ and their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Kisii-Kids-Orphanage-Kenya-160969257273404/?fref=ts
