Project Description

Place: Palawan and Luzon (Philippines)
Number of positions needed: 7+ singles or young couples
Length of Term: at least 2 years optimally, 1 year minimum

Description of possible activities: Visiting neighbors and surrounding villages, treating the sick using natural remedies (or helping them in the hospital), helping in small lifestyle center, giving Bible studies, helping with nearby churches and church plants, helping with youth and children’s activities, helping in remote mountain schools, gardening, and helping with any other activity needed around the projects

Languages required: Basic English
Language in Palawan: Tagalog necessary (or willing to learn), Palawano dialect helpful
Language in Luzon: Ilocano preferred, Tagalog acceptable

Requirements: Active SDA member
Highly recommended: missionary experience or missionary training, including medical missionary training

Housing: provided

Vaccines: PAMAS does not require vaccines and neither does the Philippines. Some recommendations are: Tetanus, Typhoid, and Hepatitis A & B. There is no vaccine yet for Malaria. Palawan missionaries are at high risk of contacting Malaria, but treatment is available. Typhoid (from poor sanitation and affected water sources) and Dengue (from mosquitos) are common and precautions should be taken.
